High above the Amalfi Coast, where the cliffs of Ravello drop dramatically toward the Tyrrhenian Sea, one of Italy's most extraordinary cultural traditions unfolds each summer. The Ravello Festival, held from June through September, transforms this small medieval town into a stage for world-class music, dance, and art — all set against a backdrop that few venues on earth could rival.

The festival's spiritual center is the belvedere of Villa Rufolo, whose terraced gardens inspired Richard Wagner during his 1880 visit, sparking the very idea of a festival dedicated to music in this setting. Today, a striking cantilevered stage extends out over the gardens, seemingly suspended in mid-air with nothing but the coastline and open water behind the orchestra.

Symphonic concerts, chamber music, jazz, ballet, and contemporary art exhibitions fill the program, drawing internationally acclaimed performers and ensembles. Evening concerts are especially magical, as the sky shifts through shades of amber and violet while the sea glimmers below.
